6 Settings

Menu screen

This submenu allows the operator to set the network and connectivity settings, to reboot, and to restore manufacturer default settings. All of these settings may be overridden via the control panel on the HyDip website.

Use the v arrow to go to the last item in the main menu, Settings, and press ENTER. This brings up the Settings submenu.

Network

This menu allows various types of connectivity to be set depending on whether a 3G/4G or an Ethernet configuration is used on the HyDip device.

Network: 3G/4G

This option is required to connect the HyDip to the internet. It allows the APN to be specified.

The first step with a 3G/4G HyDip configuration is to get it to connect to the internet

For this, most 3G/4G Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will require an Access Point Name (APN), with a user name and password. These APNs are standard for most 3G/4G users.

When Network is chosen, press Enter again to accept the 3G/4G option. There are now two choices:

  1. Use a Preset APN (recommended)
  2. Input an APN / user / password manually.

You would normally choose the pre-programmed APN option.

Using a Preset

Select the Preset menu.

Using the ^ and v arrow keys scroll through the list of mobile operators like Telstra, Telstra M2M, Optus, Stream, T-mobile, or, others.

To select one of the Preset operators press ENTER. The APN / user / password has now been set.

Manually providing network details

Alternatively, the APN can be input manually. Your 3G/4G provider can supply the APN, username and password; common ones can be found by searching the internet.

Select APN and press ENTER.

550

Scroll down one place and press ENTER to set the APN manually

Using the keypad enter the APN for your 3G/4G network. Press ENTER to complete.

Select Password and input the password corresponding to your network. ENTER to complete.

Network: Ethernet (Internet protocol - DHCP / IP)

A HyDip device using Ethernet can be connected to the internet using DHCP or by setting the IP manually.

Connecting with DHCP usually happens automatically. If it doesn’t, select Network and there will be two choices as shown below:

Use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

We recommend you use this wherever possible. Just select Use DHCP and press ENTER.

Set IP manually

You may choose to set the IP manually if, for example, DHCP is not running on your network (relatively rare).

You will need the device IP, gateway IP and subnet mask from your network administrator.

From Settings > Network > Ethernet select Set IP manually and press ENTER. The following submenu appears:

Registration

🚧

You should only change this if directed by the manufacturer

The registration code is preset by HyDip and does not normally need changing.

If the registration code is lost the device will not connect to the server. Contact the manufacturer to request a new code. This menu then allows the registration code provided by the manufacturer to be entered.

Select Registration from the Settings menu and press ENTER. The following menu items will be shown:

On the bottom line of the display the 8-character hexadecimal code (i.e. 0-9 and A-F) can be entered. Only hexadecimal values are accepted; if a non-hexadecimal value is entered the device will not accept it.

Reboot

🚧

This action is not normally required

This option allows the HyDip device to be rebooted if needed. It is intended for debug purposes and is merely a soft power cycle.

To reboot the HyDip device:

  1. From the Settings option select Reboot and follow the instructions.
550

Warning screen for reboot

  1. Press ENTER and hold for more than five seconds.

If ENTER is not pressed within 30 seconds, or if it is held down for less than 5 seconds, the device will return to the standard screen.

If a reboot is attempted while the device is syncing, a message will appear saying "REQUEST DENIED".

FW downgrade

🚧

This action is not normally required

This option is intended only for debugging purposes and should be performed only by a trained operator under instruction from the HyDip vendor. It allows you to restore to the previous firmware.

Factory restore

🚧

This action is not normally required

This option allows the HyDip device to be restored to its factory settings. This option should be performed only by a trained operator.

🚧

This action can affect set-up data

  • Restoring default settings will overwrite calibration data.

  • Restoring default settings may require some codes and passwords to be re-entered to get the HyDip device operating again.

  1. Select Factory Restore setting from the menu and press ENTER.
